Biography
Maryse Allard, known artistically as Mallar, is a contemporary abstract painter based in Québec, Canada.
After retiring from the healthcare field in 2022, she chose to fully devote herself to painting — a path that had long been present, waiting for its true space to emerge.
Since 2024, her artistic practice has taken shape through intensive professional training, notably under the guidance of Céline Roger, through which she has developed a strong visual language rooted in structure, tension, and emotional depth.
Her work explores the silent inner forces that shape human experience: pressure, resilience, fragility, and transformation.
Through layered acrylics, mixed media, textured surfaces, and restrained light, Mallar builds compositions where vertical structures, compressed masses, and suspended spaces become metaphors for endurance and inner balance.
Her signature series, Whispered Tension, investigates these invisible tensions through a visual vocabulary of deep blues, earthy tones, burnt orange, and fractured light.
Each painting becomes both a field of resistance and a space of breathing — where silence carries as much weight as matter itself.
Deeply influenced by her life experiences, particularly her relationship with her non-verbal autistic adult son, Mallar’s work is rooted in a search for connection beyond words.
For her, painting is both an act of construction and an act of listening.
Her work is currently evolving toward gallery representation, with a growing focus on contemporary abstraction as a space for introspection, emotional resonance, and human presence.
“A visual whisper, yet undeniably present.”
